What was your job in the military?

Special Forces Weapons Sergeant (Green Beret)

What was the best part of serving in the military?

The best part about serving in the military is that there is a sense of camaraderie that is unrivaled in any occupation in the civilian world.

What does it mean to be a Veteran at UF?

It has been relatively easy to use the education benefits that I earned through the military, mostly because UF has a great Student Veteran Services Office that will help you with any enrollment questions or issues you may have.

What is something that not many people know about you?

I grew up in a partially abandoned gold mining town in the Sierra Nevada Foothills named Challenge. There was no electricity, phones, or paved roads for miles, only mountains, and nature. This was an amazing way to grow up.

How does your military experience affect your life today?

My military service affects my life today by providing me with independence and the ability to attend college, which was never a possibility for me in my socioeconomic upbringing. The chance to be a first generation college graduate is a life-long dream of mine that is made possible by service to this nation.

BEST food you ate in the military?

The best food I ate was in Thailand, and the best dish was Phanaeng Gai (Chicken Curry).

WORST food you ate in the military?

Balut (raw developed bird embryo).
